The first career intelligence platform built exclusively for quantitative finance. Everything you need to navigate, benchmark, and advance your career in the quant world — in one place.
Whether you're benchmarking your compensation, exploring new firms, or scanning for open roles — this platform was built with you in mind. Behind AlgoTradingMap is years of hands-on experience placing quant professionals across hedge funds, HFT firms, multi-managers, and sell-side desks.
This guide covers every feature on the platform. Bookmark it — we update both the platform and this guide regularly as new features launch.
Platform Overview
AlgoTradingMap is a career intelligence platform mapping 520+ quantitative finance and trading firms globally across 11 categories. Think of it as the intersection of a firm directory, a compensation database, and an AI-powered career advisor — all in one place. The platform includes 1,100+ recruiter contacts and the database is continuously growing.
Who is it for?
The Interactive Map
The map is the heart of the platform. It displays all covered firms as dots across a world map, grouped by city. Click any city cluster to see the firms based there, their category, tier, and hiring status.
What you see on the map
- →City clusters — each dot represents a city. The number inside shows how many firms are located there.
- →Color coding — dots are colored by firm category (Quant HF, HFT, Multi-Manager, Sell-Side, Sovereign Wealth).
- →Green pulse — firms with active job listings are highlighted in real time.
- →City panel — clicking a city opens a side panel with all firms in that location and quick-access links.
How to navigate
- →Zoom in/out using your mouse scroll or the +/– controls.
- →Click and drag to pan across regions.
- →Use the filter panel to narrow firms by category, tier, region, asset class, or trading speed.
- →Toggle between Dark and Light themes using the theme button in the top bar.
The map works best on desktop. On mobile, use the filter sheet (tap the filter icon) to browse firms in list view.
Firm Profiles & Cards
Every firm has a card with key information. Cards appear in the list view and in the city panel. Click any card to expand it and see the full profile.
What's on each card
11 firm categories
Trading & Markets: Quant Hedge Funds, Multi-Manager Platforms, HFT & Prop Trading, Commodity Trading, Energy Trading
Financial Services: Sell-Side Algo Desks, Asset Managers, Sovereign & Pension Funds, Insurance & Reinsurance
Infrastructure & Tech: Exchanges & Data, Fintech & Big Tech
A note on data completeness: Not all firms are equally transparent — some are private, others don't publish detailed information publicly. Card details may vary: some firms have full profiles, others show only the basics. We're continuously working to expand and verify the data across all 520+ firms.
Dimming cards
Working through a long list? You can dim any firm card to visually push it to the background without removing it from view. Dimmed cards turn grey so you can stay focused on what's relevant. Click the restore icon on a dimmed card to bring it back at any time.
Firm comparison tool
Compare up to 3 firms side by side across all parameters — tier, category, strategy, compensation ranges, trading speed, asset class, open roles, and more. Two ways to add a firm:
- →Drag any card into the Compare bar at the bottom of the screen.
- →Click the + button on a firm card to add it instantly.
Comparison data is available on Professional and Corporate plans.
Filters & Search
The filter panel lets you slice the firm database any way you need. All filters work in combination — layer them to find exactly the right set of firms.
Available filters
Sort options
- →By Tier (default) — T1 firms appear first.
- →By Match Score — available after uploading your resume. Ranks firms by relevance to your profile.
- →Alphabetical — A–Z for easy lookup.
Compensation Data
Compensation data is one of the hardest things to get right in quant finance — and one of the most valuable things we offer. The benchmarks on this platform combine three sources: years of real market data accumulated through active recruiting work, publicly available market signals, and anonymous submissions from the community itself. No single source tells the full story — but together they give you the most complete picture available anywhere for this industry.
Salary Explorer
Browse compensation ranges by role, seniority, firm category, and location. Filter to your exact situation and see median base, total cash, and bonus ranges.
- →Roles: Quant Researcher, Quant Trader, Quant Developer, PM, ML Engineer, Infra Engineer, Risk Quant, and more.
- →Seniority: Junior (0–2y), Mid (2–5y), Senior (5–8y), VP/Lead (8–12y), Director/PM (12y+).
- →Data sourced from years of real placement history, market signals, and anonymous community submissions.
Salary Calculator
Select your role, seniority, firm type, and location — get an instant personalized benchmark. See where you stand vs. the market and what to expect at your next level.
Submit Your Salary (Anonymous)
Help grow the database by submitting your own compensation anonymously. The more data the community shares, the more accurate the benchmarks become for everyone.
Submission is completely anonymous. No personally identifiable information is collected or stored. Data is reviewed before being added to the database.
AlgoEstimate™ — Compensation Estimates on Job Listings
Every job listing on the Job Board includes an AlgoEstimate™ — our proprietary compensation projection. AlgoEstimate uses our market intelligence model to analyze the firm's tier, category, location, AUM, headcount, and competitive positioning to project likely base salary and total comp ranges for each role. This lets you compare not just roles, but expected pay — right from the search results.
AlgoEstimate is not an official figure from the employer. It is an informed projection for benchmarking purposes only. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, negotiation, team, and performance.
Salary Explorer — individual data points
The Salary Explorer shows anonymized individual compensation submissions. There are two ways to unlock full access:
- →Share your compensation — submit your own salary anonymously and get permanent full access, free forever. Takes 2 minutes.
- →Professional or Corporate plan — Pro subscribers see 90% of the data. Corporate subscribers get full unrestricted access automatically.
The table shows Role, Level, Base Salary, Total Comp, and Satisfaction rating. On mobile, the table is condensed to the most important columns. Sort by Total Comp, Base, or Years of Experience using the sort controls above the table.
Sharing your compensation is completely anonymous — no name, firm name, or identifying information is ever collected or displayed.
Salary Report
The Salary Report is a deep-dive compensation intelligence briefing generated for a specific firm. It combines our database with real-time market verification to give you a comprehensive picture of what a firm actually pays — and how it compares to the market.
How to access it
Every firm card shows a 📊 Report badge. In the expanded firm view, click the "Generate Salary Report" button. The system compiles and verifies compensation data in real time — this takes 10–15 seconds.
What's in the report
- →Compensation Intelligence Summary — executive summary of the firm's compensation philosophy, market positioning, green flags and red flags, negotiation tips, and a Recruiter Note from Torchinsky Executive Consulting.
- →Recent Firm Intelligence — latest headcount changes, AUM updates, and news — shown only when available.
- →Base Salary by Role & Seniority — table with visual range bars across all roles and levels, with "Updated" and "New" badges for recently changed data.
- →Bonus Ranges — percentage of base salary shown as card grid per role.
- →Total Comp vs Market Benchmark — bar chart comparing the firm's total compensation (green) against market average (grey) for each role.
- →Compensation Trend YoY (2022–2026) — mini bar charts showing how comp has moved year over year per role.
- →Peer Comparison — ranked table of same-tier firms with the current firm highlighted.
- →Data Sources — breakdown of where the data comes from: community submissions, recruiter intelligence, and market data.
Saving and exporting
Click "Save as PDF" to download a print-ready version of the report. The PDF includes a confidentiality watermark.
Usage limits
- →Professional plan: 3 reports per month.
- →Corporate plan: 20 reports per month.
- →When you've used your monthly limit, you can request additional reports by contacting mike@torchinsky.net.
The Salary Report is one of the most valuable tools on the platform for interview prep and offer negotiation. Generate a report before any compensation discussion — it gives you specific, verified data points to reference.

About Our Data
We want to be upfront with you about how data on AlgoTradingMap works. Transparency matters to us.
What we update regularly
- →Job listings are scraped from firm career pages on a rolling basis. Most listings refresh within 24–72 hours.
- →Hiring status indicators (active / paused / closed) update automatically.
- →Salary data updates as new community submissions are verified and added.
- →Firm profiles and recruiter contacts are reviewed and updated by our team on an ongoing basis. The recruiter database is continuously growing.
- →Industry news is collected daily for Tier 1 firms and twice weekly for all others. Each item is tagged, scored for relevance, and reviewed before publication.
A note on accuracy
While we work hard to keep everything current and correct, the quant finance world moves fast. You may occasionally encounter a career page link that has moved, a listing that was filled before we updated records, or compensation figures reflecting slightly older market conditions.
Found something that looks off? Use the feedback button on any firm card, or email us directly at mike@torchinsky.net. We take every report seriously and typically correct issues within 24–48 hours.
For Recruiters & Talent Teams
AlgoTradingMap was built by someone who has spent years working both sides of the quant recruitment market. That means the platform is as useful for recruiters as it is for candidates.
Firm Intelligence at a Glance
Compensation Intelligence
One of the hardest parts of quant recruitment is calibrating offers. Our compensation database covers:
- →Base salary, total cash, and bonus ranges by role, seniority, firm type, and location.
- →All seniority levels from Junior through Director/PM.
- →Exportable as PDF for client or candidate briefing documents.
Use the Salary Calculator to quickly generate a compensation benchmark for a specific role/level/location combination before a client briefing.
Hiring Contacts
Each firm profile includes 1,100+ in-house recruiter contacts with direct LinkedIn profiles — and the database is continuously growing. Combined with the firm map, it becomes a powerful tool for building and expanding your client base.
News & Market Intelligence
The Industry Intel tab delivers a curated weekly digest of the most important developments across the quant finance landscape — leadership moves, fund launches, office expansions, regulatory actions, and hiring signals. Each story is tagged and scored for relevance. Use it to prep for client calls, stay current on competitor activity, and spot firms entering growth phases before the market catches on.
Individual firm cards also show recent news items specific to that firm — giving you instant context before any outreach.
How AlgoTradingMap compares
| Platform | Notes |
|---|---|
| Great for sourcing, weak on firm structure and comp data | |
| Glassdoor | Generic reviews, no quant-specific filters or tier structure |
| Levels.fyi | Tech-focused, limited quant finance coverage |
| Agency databases | Siloed, manually maintained, often outdated |
| AlgoTradingMap | 520+ quant firms, comp data, live jobs, 1,100+ recruiter contacts, news — one tab |

About the Founder
AlgoTradingMap was built by a practitioner, not a tech startup. Mike Torchinsky is the founder of Torchinsky Executive Consulting, a specialist recruitment firm dedicated exclusively to quantitative finance.
What makes the platform different is the perspective behind it. Having worked on both sides of the table — with candidates navigating career decisions and with firms building out their quant teams — Mike understands exactly how recruiters search, how candidates think, and what each side actually needs.
That deep market intuition is baked into every feature on this platform. The result is what we believe is the most useful career tool a quant professional can find.
